Ian Morden
Estate Director
As Estate Director, Ian is responsible for the general management of Cloudy Bay and plays a key role in driving its strategic direction and global expansion - while continuing to deliver the undisputed high quality wines with which Cloudy Bay has become synonymous.
Ian's journey to Cloudy Bay has been an interesting one.
Ian spent the early part of his career working as a commercial lawyer for various international law firms, before moving into the wine business. Since 2003, Ian has worked with Lion Nathan, most recently as Business Development Director. He was responsible for leading and executing wine business M&A projects and transactions, as well as structuring and negotiating a broad range of wines & spirits distribution partnerships, including the establishment of Fine Wine Partners in Australia and a new bourbon venture involving Kirin's Four Roses Distillery.
Before coming to Cloudy Bay, Ian spent a great deal of time working in New Zealand, including assignments in the Marlborough region.
And so, having had a taste of Marlborough over the years, Ian found the unique opportunity to combine commerce with passionate creativity at Cloudy Bay irresistible.
Ian relishes the Marlborough lifestyle and active weekends with his family - fly-fishing in crystal clear streams, snow-boarding, surfing and the myriad of other aquatic activities offered by the idyllic Marlborough Sounds. He loves nothing more than convivial shared meals in atmospheric places, sharing the cooking, food and, of course, fabulous wines with family and friends.
