Overall the summer was a little cooler wetter than usual for Marlborough. We had a warm and sunny start to the growing season but it was followed by some cool periods in the new year resulting in a crystalline 2009 Chardonnay with mid yellow hue.
How it was made

Harvest

We picked our vineyards according to their flavour profile, commencing on the 1st of April and # nishing on the 20th.

Vinification

After hand picking and gentle pressing, the wine was 100% barrel fermented in French oak. The wine remained in barrel, 20% of it new, for one year prior to bottling and enjoyed regular lees stirring and about 70% malolactic fermentation. The final blend was determined in May 2010 and bottled the following July.
